A Natural Way to Heal
Reflexology is an ancient holistic healing therapy in which pressure is applied to specific points on the feet, hands, face or ears that correspond to each organ, gland and part of the body. By using this technique we help increase circulation, lymphatic drainage, digestion and metabolism, as well as activate the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and repair). Reflexology encourages removal of blockages and promotes flow in the body, helping to restore balance and optimal health. Benefits are many, including pain management, stress reduction, improved sleep and much more.
While some forms of reflexology can be uncomfortable and painful, I believe healing is best reached when working with a balance between pleasure and therapeutic pressure.
Matilda Nilsson RCRT
Matilda is a registered reflexology therapist through Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC), and has practiced reflexology since 2010. She's an examiner for RAC, and teaches classes and workshops related to reflexology and foot fitness.
In 2021 she became a certified lymphatic drainage practitioner through the Perren-Jones Academy, after witnessing the ever increasing need for detoxification, increased energy levels and immune support.
Always fascinated by the body and natural healing, Matilda started exploring this field early in her life. After a career in marketing and a few years in the film industry, she finally decided to focus on health and wellness as a career. While her current work and focus is on reflexology and lymphatic drainage, she is also trained in Indian Head Massage, Swedish massage, Chi Nei Tsang (abdominal chi massage), energy medicine, functional movement, functional breathing, HeartMath® and Life Coaching.
Matilda is currently practicing out of Whole Body Health & Wellness in Maple Ridge and Evoke Wellness in Mission, BC.
Foot reflexology is performed using hands only (no tools) in a specific sequence of pressure points, alternated with massage. Extra attention is given to areas and reflexes that are connected to problem areas in the body.
Facial reflexology (Dien Chan), or multireflexology, adds principles from acupuncture and TCM to create a powerful treatment. It is deeply therapeutic and also stimulates microcirculation for a healthy complexion. Multiple high quality tools are used.
MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE
Lymphatic drainage is a gentle form of massage that encourages lymphatic flow in order to avoid fluid buildup and a sluggish system. A great way to detox and relax simultaneously.
CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
FIT FEET FOR A STRONG FOUNDATION
In this class we highlight the importance of strong and flexible feet for proper alignment and injury reduction. We focus on stretching and strengthening muscles that have weakened mainly as a result of (improper) footwear.
DIY Foot Reflexology, Hand Reflexology and Facial Reflexology. Workshops are 2-3 hrs long and includes a background of reflexology, the benefits of the therapy, and simple protocols to carry out on yourself and your loved ones to help with certain ailments and to increase general wellness.
Matilda is an extremely knowledgeable and talented reflexologist. She communicates clearly what she is is working on and how it is interconnected with the rest of the body. There have been times when she has discovered little sensitivities or tenderness that have highlighted underlying issues that I haven't even consciously thought about! She then connects those to the bigger picture of what brought you in to see her. She has enabled me to gain a deeper understanding of my own body and what it needs to heal. On top of all of this the setting that she works in is spa-like. The atmosphere is so calming and I always leave feeling like I've been spoiled. I would 100% recommend Matilda to my family and friends (and you!).
